Driver Education
How long will it take to complete the driver education program?
Approximately 16 weeks to complete the entire program.
I realize my child has a conflict with the class we selected, can we switch classes?
You must contact your lead driver education instructor to make that decision. If the class you prefer is full, then we can not move your student to another class. You must wait for the next registration period.
What happens if I have a medical consideration?
As a driver, you may be asked to have your personal physician provide information on your medical condition for review by the medical professionals at DHHS and final licensing decision by DMV.
The Driver Medical Evaluation (DME) program is administered by the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV), with medical counsel and individual case recommendations provided by physicians and physician extenders within the Highway Safety Scientific Services Section of the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Drivers can be referred to DMV by concerned physicians, family members, driver license examiners, and law enforcement officers.
If one of the local DMV representatives calls for you to have a medical review, your parent will be contacted by the local DMV representative and provided with paperwork for your physician to fill out. The physician will then send the paperwork to the DMV Medical Review Board. When the board decides on your driving status, a letter will be mailed to the parent and the local DMV representative that asked for the review. If you are cleared to drive, the local DMV representative will give Jordan Driving School your Restricted Permit Form and Medical Clearance Form. Once processed, you be notified and able to schedule driving lessons.
If you have questions, please contact Mary Brooks at 919-772-4877 or jds@jordandriving.com.
How do I register if I am a homeschool student?
At registration, choose homeschool virtual OR your base high school. You can only take an afterschool class at you assigned base high school or through the homeschool vitural program. You will be asked to submit your homeschool registration confirmation once you register.
Can I still take driver education if I am over the age of 18?
If you are 18 years of age or older and are still enrolled in a public, private, charter, or licensed home school in Wake County, you may still take driver education. You must go to the DMV to apply for your permit before you can schedule behind-the-wheel lessons. Once you have been issued a permit, you will need to make a copy of it and take it to the driver ed instructor at your high school. You will need to have your permit with you during your behind-the-wheel lessons.
What happens if I miss a class?
All missed days must be made up in a future class. For example, if you miss day three, you must make day three up in a future class. If you miss more than one class, you will be dropped from the class and counted as a failure. Absences for
medical and family emergencies with written documentation will be excused, but missed time will be made up in a future class as determined by the instructor.

How long is the registration period?
Registration is typically four weeks long. However, it's open as long as there are seats available.
Why does my child have to be a certain age on the first day of class?

When is the next registration period?

Policies
Are classes canceled for inclement weather?
If the Wake County school system closes due to inclement weather, no driver education classes or behind-the-wheel lessons will be held that day. This is true for public schools, private schools, and home school locations.
When a cancelation occurs, teachers make every effort to contact affected students by phone, email, and through school announcements. Also, we announce closings on the WRAL closures listing.
If Wake County schools are in session, each school office makes announcements regarding after-school activities. If after-school activities are canceled at your school, all driver education classes and behind-the-wheel lessons are canceled for that day.
Do you offer discounts?
Wake County Public School System provides a $65 discount for driver education to students who are currently receiving a free or reduced lunch. If your student is eligible for this fee waiver, please print and fill out this waiver and return it to the lead driver education instructor for your high school. The fee waiver process may take up to one month to verify. Class placement cannot be completed until after the student's free or reduced lunch status has been verified by the Child Nutrition Department.
What is your refund policy?
There will be no refunds given for students who take a seat in class and dropout or fail. If there is a situation where the student cannot take the class due to unforeseen circumstances (illness, no transportation home, etc.), we issue refunds upon their request.
In the event of multiple or wrongful payments where a refund is needed, parents must contact the Jordan Driving School Admin Office to request a refund. If you dispute the payment through your bank and/or credit card company, you will be responsible for paying Jordan Driving School the chargeback fee before the student will be placed into a driver education class. All refunds should be handled by Jordan Driving School Admin Office, not your bank or credit card company.
